Considered one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in the state, El Tajin is a place you must visit during your visit to Veracruz. This Totonaca city houses the Pyramid of the Niches, a construction considered a World Heritage Site that will amaze you with its beauty. Afterwards, you will be able to observe the Dance of the Voladores de Papantla and visit the Museum of the area to appreciate the daily life of the Totonacs. Following the tour, we will visit Papantla, a magical town in Veracruz.
We'll start the day by picking you up at your hotel. Enjoy panoramic views of beautiful natural landscapes as we head toward Tajín in a comfortable vehicle with reclining seats and air conditioning. We'll arrive at the most important ceremonial center of the Totonac people around this time. We’ll begin by visiting the local museum, where a 30-minute overview will give you a feel for what this ancient "City of Thunder" was all about.Next, we’ll enter El Tajín, the ceremonial heart of Totonac culture, full of history, knowledge, and natural beauty. Surrounded by jungle, you’ll see pre-colonial buildings, including a palace, a ceremonial temple, and ancient ball courts. Be amazed by the Pyramid of the Niches, considered an agricultural, civic, and solar calendar thanks to its seven levels and 365 niches. Our local guide will share the rich history of this remarkable ancient city with you.
1:30 pm - It's time to treat yourself to some local flavors! Near the archaeological site, you'll have a chance to try dishes unique to this region. (Please note: food and drinks are not included.) We’ll continue to Papantla, a charming "Pueblo Mágico," where we'll explore the town center, admire the famous "Voladores" mural, and visit the cathedral. You'll have some time for souvenir shopping here, especially vanilla products, which are grown locally—don't forget to try some!We’ll depart around this time, giving you a chance to relax or take a nap on the way back. Your tour concludes with drop-off right at your hotel.
