Take an insightful tour around the "yellow city" of Mexico, Izamal. Immerse yourself in its beautiful streets and visit the most emblematic places of this magical little town.
The City of Hills, located right in the middle of the peninsula, could be the oldest colonial city, within which stand five pyramids, the main one Kinich Kakmo, as well as the Rabbit, and Izamatul Kabul. Izamal is considered a colonial jewel; all the buildings are painted in yellow color. The main attraction is the Convent which was built on Mayan pyramids, using the stones of these for its construction. Izamal founder was Fray Diego de Landa, famous for burning mayan codexes.
Embark on this guided tour of Izamal's picturesque streets with a knowledgable guide. Often referred to as "the city of the three cultures", it has a cultural heritage created from the pre-Hispanic, colonial, and contemporary times.
On this walking tour of the historic center of this colonial city, you'll discover places such as the convent of San Antonio de Padua, the symbol of Izamal, or the statue of Pope John Paul II, dedicated to the pontiff for his visit to Izamal in 1993.
Afterward, you will stop at a local restaurant, where you will have free time to taste the gastronomy of the Yucatan region. Once you've enjoyed some free time, return back to Merida and get dropped off at your hotel, if the hotel option is selected.
