This package is perfect for exploring Veracruz’s must-see spots! We’ll start at the Veracruz Aquarium, where you’ll get a close look at the state’s amazing wildlife. Around midday, we’ll head to the fortress of San Juan de Ulúa, which was built under the orders of Hernán Cortés to protect Veracruz from pirate attacks. A guide will share the history and legends of Mexico’s oldest prison with you. After this visit, we’ll head to Mandinga, where you can enjoy a boat ride through the mangrove area. We’ll also have a chance to stop by the famous “Island of Shells” and enjoy a delicious seafood meal with freshly cooked options at Mandinga's local restaurants. To wrap up the tour, we’ll explore the historic center of Veracruz aboard a traditional tourist tram, giving us a great view of the city’s most important and beautiful landmarks.
10:15 am: Entrance to the Veracruz Aquarium
Get ready to explore 10 exhibition halls where you’ll encounter thousands of fascinating creatures that will captivate your senses and make this an unforgettable experience.
12:00 pm: Tour of San Juan de UlúaWe’ll be waiting for you at our offices after your aquarium visit, so we can take you to board the vehicle waiting outside Plaza Acuario. This will take you to the most feared prison in the Americas on a guided tour you’re sure to enjoy. Walk through this nearly 500-year-old fortress and enjoy the view from the Tower of San Pedro, where you can capture amazing photos of the port. Discover the legend of Chucho “El Roto,” the thief who stole to help the poor, and visit the cells that held Chucho and the "Mulata of Córdoba," two famous legends of this historic place.
3:00 pm: Departure for the Mandinga TourAfter finishing the tour of San Juan de Ulúa, you’ll return to our office to start the Mandinga tour. At 3 pm sharp, we’ll accompany you to your vehicle, which will take you to Mandinga. Please arrive 10 minutes early at our office to ensure a prompt departure.
3:40 pm: Boat Ride on the Mandinga LagoonAs you glide through the lagoon, observe the birds among the diverse vegetation. The mangroves create a serene atmosphere, turning the boat ride into a peaceful escape. Take a moment to close your eyes, feel the breeze, and breathe deeply to make this memory last. We’ll also visit the famous “Island of Shells,” where you can hop out and snap some fantastic photos. Mandinga is home to a variety of waterfront restaurants, all serving delicious seafood—though we’re happy to offer our recommendations!
4:20 pm: Time for Lunch at Mandinga’s Waterfront Restaurants
7:00 pm: Tram Tour of the Historic CenterThe best way to explore Veracruz's historic centre is aboard a charming tourist tram! This 40-minute panoramic tour will immerse you in the city’s architecture, history, and culture as you pass 21 historic monuments that played an essential role in our history. An audio guide will share the fascinating stories behind each one.
Note: The tour starts at the Veracruz boardwalk daily. On weekends and during peak season, it also departs from Plaza Acuario.
