This tour is the finest introduction to the culture and traditions of Indian royalties. Visit the Amber Fort, City Palace in Jaipur, Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur and go on safaris in Ranthambore National Park in search of tigers and other jungle cats. Experience firsthand the magnificence of a wonder of the modern world, Taj Mahal, a marble mausoleum the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, commissioned for his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

Along the way, experience the ways of life of the kings with a stay at Castle Sardargarh & Deogarh. In Sardargarh board a local train ride across the Aravalli Range and old tunnels from the time of the British Raj.

Day 1 Delhi - Jaipur

Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Delhi in an air-conditioned vehicle. Explore Delhi with your private tour guide, first making your way to the picturesque Jama Mosque.

Next, visit Raj Ghat, the cremation site of India's father of the nation, Mahatama Gandhi. Later, visit Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an excellent example of Afghan architecture constructed with marble and red sandstone.

Hop on to another UNESCO World Heritage-listed site, Humayun’s Tomb. End your Delhi sightseeing with a visit to India Gate, a memorial built in 1931 to commemorate Indian soldiers.

In the afternoon, drive up to Jaipur and check in at your hotel for the night.

Day 2 The Royal Jaipur way

Start exploring Jaipur from the Amber Fort. See the lay of the land as a past king would from the fort on the top of the hill, and learn the ways of the royals from your guide.

Next, visit the City Palace in the heart of Jaipur, which is known for its blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. Go through the fine collection of textiles, costumes and armour at the palace.

At Hawa Mahal, or the Palace of Winds, experience how the royal women would watch the royal processions without being seen. Before finally visiting the stargazing observatory of Jantar Mantar, built by the renowned astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh.

Day 3 Sambhar - Sambhar Salt Lake

Drive to Sambhar after breakfast. At Sambhar the skyline stretches out endlessly, the water and the sky combine in a gleam of blue and the calls of the curlew and flamingos ring out constantly. Sambhar Lake is also the biggest inland salt lake in India. Away from all the worldly noises and uproars, this is Rajasthan’s hidden treasure.

Check in at your hotel, situated right beside the stunning salt lake, before joining a salt production and workers meet tour. Also, take a vintage train ride and cycle around the lake before heading out for a village tour. Stay the night in Sambhar.

Day 4 Sambhar - Jodhpur

Head out to Jodhpur after the breakfast. Check in at a hotel in the city, and enjoy the rest of the day exploring the desert settlement.

Day 5 Jodhpur - Sadargarh

Spend the day sightseeing around Jodhpur. With your private tour guide, visit Mehrangarh Fort (Majestic Fort), a hilltop fort boasting intricate latticed windows, Jaswant Thada, a royal cenotaph built from white marble, and Umaid Bhawan Palace, the largest private residence in Asia.

In the afternoon, drive to Sardargarh for an overnight stay.

Day 6 Sadargarh

Board a local train to ride through the the Aravalli ranges crossing old tunnels from the time of the British Raj. Feed monkeys, visit the temples in the area before returning to Sardargarh for the night.

Day 7 Sadargarh - Udaipur

Drive from Sardargarh to Udaipur. On arrival, check in at your hotel and enjoy day at your own leisure.

Day 8 Udaipur

Start your day in the city of the sunrise with the visit to Sahelion-Ki-Bari. This Garden of the Maids of Honour is well-laid out with extensive lawns and shady walks. Then head to the museum of folk art, which houses a rich collection of folk dresses, ornaments, puppets, masks, dolls, folk musical instruments and paintings.

After a break we proceed to City Palace, the largest palace in India. Even though four generations of Maharajas contributed to the present shape of the palace, the design has been so carefully planned and integrated with the original buildings that it is difficult to believe that it was not conceived as a whole. The museum of the palace includes the beautiful peacock mosaic and miniature wall paintings of Indian mythology.

Today we have an opportunity to visit a traditional painting school and see the famous miniature painting process.

In the evening take a boat-ride on the lake Pichola. The famous Lake Palace of Udaipur was the summer residence of the former rulers. The James Bond film Octopussy popularized this palace in the west.

Stay the night at a hotel in Udaipur.

Day 9 Udaipur - Deogarh - Barabagh

Drive to Deogarh, originally a Janana Shikaar Bari (hunting lodge for ladies), is more than 200 year old bagh. It has a Chaar Mukhi Shivling rendering it a divine characteristic. Barabagh is a rejuvenating oasis from the chaotic city life with fresh-air bird watching, calm walks, train rides and lakeside visits.

Birds such as green pigeons, peacocks, Indian rollers, owls, parrots, kingfisher and babbler often flock here. Stay the night at Deogarh.

Duration 2.5 hours. 3 star hotel stay.

Day 10 Barabagh Deogarh - Pushkar

After breakfast, drive to Pushkar. On arrival check in at your hotel and enjoy day at your leisure.

Day 11 Pushkar - Ranthambore National Park

Enjoy sightseeing in Pushkar during the day. The city is a holy place, famous for its Cattle Fair held every November. Visit its old temples and ghats to get a better understanding of its religious significance.

In the afternoon, drive to Ranthambore and check in to your hotel for the night.

Day 12 Ranthambore National Park

Early in the morning, go on a wild safari of Ranthambore National Park on the look out for hyenas, cheetahs, jungle cats, panthers and Indian tigers.

After returning to the hotel for breakfast, head out to another safari in the afternoon. Stay the night in Ranthambore.

Day 13 Ranthambore National Park - Agra

Drive to Agra during the day. After checking in to your hotel, you have the evening to explore the old city on your own.

Duration: 6 hours. 3 star hotel stay.

Day 14 Agra - Delhi

Start your morning with an enchanting Sunrise over the Taj Mahal. Your guide will meet you at the monument, one of the seven wonders of the world, and show you around the premises and the awe-inspiring marble mausoleum for an hour and a half.

Afterwards, head to Agra Fort, one of the finest Mughal forts in India. Built by Emperor Akbar in 1565, the fort is a massive red sandstone structure on the bank of Yamuna River.

Later, visit Itmad-ud-Daulah, a mausoleum that houses the tomb Mir Ghiyas Beg, a minister in the court of Shah Jahan. The monument has revered for both its history as well as architecture. It was the first tomb in India to be made up entirely of marble.

End the day with a trip to Mehtab Bagh, a series of 11 parks on the Yamuna's east bank. These parks were built to protect the Taj Mahal from the erosive effects of the sand blowing across the river. Get arguably the best view of the Taj Mahal from the gardens.

The Agra tour marks the end of your remarkable journey across north India. You'll be dropped to the airport in Delhi to safely take a flight back home.
