Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba Parks are situated just north of the frontier town Isiolo within Kenya's hot and arid northern region. The three reserves are separated by the Ewaso Ng'iro River which acts as a life-giver in this semi-desert region. Around the edges of the river, acacia and doum palms dominate, being replaced by dusty scrubland outside the flood plain.
Visit Samburu, Buffalo springs and Shaba national reserve. Explore the great number of wild animals like lions, and reticulated giraffes among others. You will also visit a Samburu village.
Day 1 Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve
You will leave Nairobi in the morning for Samburu through the Great Rift Valley arriving in time for lunch. Check in at a lodge or a campsite and have lunch. Go for an evening game drive in the reserve. Explore the great number of wild animals like lions, cheetahs, rhinos, reticulated giraffes, grevy zebras, and Somali ostrich making the reserve a special destination. At the end of the game drive, return to the lodge or camp for dinner.
Day 2 Buffalo Springs
Discover the beautiful reserve of the special northern wildlife then freely traverse through the three reserves. The buffalo spring is south of Samburu National Reserve being divided by the river Ewaso Nyiro. Here you will encounter the reticulated giraffe, the grevy zebras and African bush elephant, Oryx, crocodiles and the hippos. The reserve also has huge numbers of special bird species like Somali ostrich and the Somali ostrich special kind birds.
Day 3 Shaba National Reserve
Have an early bush breakfast before going for a morning game drive at the reserve for a better chance of wildlife watching. In the afternoon, go for a camel-back guided safari to the Samburu village for a cultural exploration of the Samburu people, their way of life and the traditional dances. As you learn about the Samburu people you will also discover the unique singing springs in the reserve.
You will be taken back to your hotel in Nairobi for the end of the safari.
