This 1-day excursion is ideal for those seeking a rich, immersive experience in Ethiopian history and culture!

Your professional English-speaking tour guide will meet you and welcome you at your hotel in Addis Ababa or Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Then, in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle, you will drive 65 km south of Addis Ababa to Adadi Mariam Rock Church.

On the way to Adadi Mariam Rock Church, stop at two view points to see the great scenery of the Ethiopian part of the Great East African Rift Valley, and cross the Awash River - one of the biggest rivers in Ethiopia.

Learn about ancient Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity at Adadi Mariam Rock Church, which was chiselled out of rock in the 13th Century AD by King Lalibela and has always been used.

Then, visit a local family where you will indulge in a cultural experience of their way of life, see and try how Enjera (the Ethiopian pancake) is baked, attend a traditional Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony and enjoy your coffee as Ethiopians.

If the tour day is either Thursday or Sunday, you will be rewarded with visiting a colourful weekly held cultural market of the Oromo people.

Next, visit the Prehistoric Archaeological Site of Melka Kunture to see ancient fossils of early humans and animals, some of the oldest stone tools human beings ever made and used, and learn the Stone Age history of Ethiopia with a stop at an open-air excavation site which is believed to have been a prehistoric animal butchering site.

Finally, drive back to Addis Ababa.
