Antique Algeria, Oasis And Sahara Circuit 16 days

Day 1 (Saturday) Algiers.

Arrival at Algiers airport.Reception and assistance at Algiers airport. Transfer to the hotel and diner at the “Brasserie des Facultés”. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 (Sunday) Algiers

Breakfast.

Morning: Visit of the Casbah starting with the Dey Palace which is nicknamed "Dar Essoltane" and the Ketchoua mosque.

Lunch in the fishery district.

Afternoon: City tour in the district of Bab El Oued, the Zighoud Youcef Boulevard, constituting the main part of the Seafront in Algiers’ harbor. Continuation with the Opera, the Emir Abdelkader place, the Grande Poste before visiting the Bardot museum and the antiquities museum. Finally visit of the Basilica Notre Dame d’Afrique located in the heights of Algiers. Diner in one of the Casbah’s palace. Overnight stay.

Day 3 (Monday) Djemila - El Kantara - Batna

Breakfast

Morning: Departure to Djemila (130 km).

Lunch in Djemila.

Afternoon: Visit of the archaeological park of Djemila, classified in the world heritage of UNESCO. Ancient Cuicul, it is one of the most beautiful sets of Roman ruins in the world (Caracala arch, large thermal baths, Christian basilica, the 4th century baptistery and themuseum with its mosaic paintings).

Continuation to Batna (140 km).

Installation at the hotel. Diner and overnight stay.

Day 4 (Tuesday) Timgad - Constantine

Breakfast

Morning: Visit of the city of Timgad. The Roman city that was named Thamugadi in ancient times, founded by Emperor Trajan.

Departure towards Constantine (110 km).

Afternoon: visit of the Bey Palace and built by Ahmed Bey. The construction started in 1825 and lasted 10 years. The palace is an example of the Islamic Art deco architecture. Continuation with the Cirta museum. Installation at the hotel. Diner and overnight stay.

Day 5 (Wednesday) Constantine - Ghardaïa

Breakfast

Morning: Visit of the famous suspended bridges of Constantine above the Rhummel Gorges, the monument to the death and the beautiful Abdelkader mosque. Transfer to the airport at 12 pm.

Lunch snack at Constantine’s airport.

Departure for the flight Constantine 01:35 pm - 04:05 pm Ghardaïa.

Transfer to the guest house located in Beni Izguen’s palm grove.

Visit of the Oasis and traditional diner. Overnight stay.

Day 6 (Thursday) Ghardaïa

Breakfast

Morning: Visit of the traditional Ghardaïa’s market and the Soukh.

Lunch.

Afternoon: Visit of the irrigation system before continuing with the visit of Beni Izguen. Discovery of the market “marché à la criée” and the Boulila Tour.

Diner and overnight stay.

Day 7 (Friday) Ghardaïa - Timimoun

Breakfast

Whole day on the road (08h) with few breaks stops.

Lunch box in the coach.

Arrival at night and installation in the guest house. Diner and overnight stay.

Day 8 (Saturday) Timimoun - Taghit

Breakfast

Morning: visit of the local market and Timimoun’s museum. Transfer to Taghit by road (08h) with few breaks stops.

Lunch box in the coach.

Arrival at night and installation in the guest house. Diner and overnight stay.

Day 9 (Sunday) Taghit

Breakfast

Morning: visit of the old Ksar along the narrow alleys and with its mud houses. Traditional lunch.

Afternoon: Discovery of the imposing dunes or the Grand Erg desert and cave paintings.

Diner and overnight stay.

Day 10 (Monday) Taghit - Bechar - Oran

Breakfast

Free morning before transfer at Bechar’s airport around 10 am.

Lunch: Snack at the airport.

Flight Béchar 1:05 pm - 3:05 pm Oran.

Transfer at the hotel for installation. Continuation with a city tour visit on foot to see: the City hall, the theater, and the Seafront.

Diner in a local restaurant.

Day 11 (Tuesday) Oran

Breakfast

Morning: visit the Fort of Santa Cruz on the heights of the city. Continuation with the visit of the Chapel of Our Lady of Santa Cruz, built in 1849.

Lunch in a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Visit of the old town: the Sidi el Houari district. Discovery of the Bey Palace and the Pasha Mosque, and its famous octagonal minaret with typically Arab-Andalusian architecture.

Diner in a restaurant and overnight stay.

Day 12 (Wednesday) Oran - Tipaza - Djanet

Breakfast

Morning: heading to Tipaza by road. Lunch fish in Tipaza. Visit of the antique site of Tipaza and its museum. Tipaza is famous for its Roman archaeological remains and classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site (theater, circus,thermal baths ...) as well as many other Punic, Roman, Christian and African vestiges which attest to the richness of the history of this region. It was on this site that Albert Camus wrote in 1939. Small detour to visit the Tomb of the Christian Woman, otherwise known as the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania (tomb of Queen Selene wife of Juba II).

Transfer to Algiers airport.

Diner snack at the airport.

Flight Algiers 11:00 pm - 01:15 am Djanet. Transfer to a guest house in Djanet.

Day 13 (Thursday) Tassili

Breakfast

Morning: Departure in 4x4 for the extraordinary landscape of desert mountains, canyons, rock arches, huge sand dunes and cave paintings (around 12000 BC to 100 AD, representing among others cattle, giraffes and human beings).

Continuation to In-Djarena, circuit between wadis and canyons, great lesson in history and rock art with engravings by In Ahahar (giraffes and elephants).

Arrival at the end of the day at Moula Naga at the camp, dinner and Bivouac.

Day 14 (Friday) Tassili

Breakfast. Departure by 4x4 for Oaun Zouatane. Cross the dunes of Moula Naga in an exceptional dune setting in order to reach Ouan Zaouatan.

Installation of the camp. Dinner and overnight stay in a bivouac.

Day 15 (Saturday) Tassili

On the way to Tin Merzouga to discover the magic of the Tadrat, its majestic dunes with changing colors, stranded rocks like vessels in the open sea or castles. Continuation along Oued Eghergher, along the dunes of Erg Admer. You will visit the famous engraving. Returnal to Djanet for a shower, rest and special dinner with a group from the region.

Day 16 (Sunday) Djanet - Algiers

Djanet airport transfer Flight Djanet 2:15 am Algiers 6:35 am. Then return flight.
