My partner and I took this tour for 5 days from Addis. We booked the high quality tour without meals included. We were accompanied by Afera, our driver, for the whole time. He was fantastic - he spoke great English, gave us lots of good facts along the way and made sure we always had nice spots for dinner and to stay, ensuring we always had the best views etc. Awash national park is very beautiful and we saw waterfalls and hot springs as well as lots of amazing animals. Then in Harar, we had a tour of the city with a very good local guide who showed us lots of historical and cultural sites as well as helping us with when negotiating for buying things. We also went and fed the hyenas in Harar which was pretty amazing. Only down sides were lots of mosquitos in Awash so take repellent. All in all, a great trip - thanks a lot.Rose S
An intensive four days, but well worth the trip. having completed a group tour of northern Ethiopia, this trip showed a completely differentt side of the country. Afera the driver could not be more helpful and informative and was able to tailor accommodation and itinerary en route to suit my needs. The guide in Harar Biniyan was also excellent, and seemed to know everyone and everything in Harar. I would recommend this trip for its content as well as being excellent valuePeter J
We had a great one day tour with our guide Emmanuel. We visited for just one day and got to see the highlights of the city. Especially the visit at the Merkato market and some beers at a local pub was memories for life. We can recommend the tour companyMonica and Paal from Norway
Our tour was really a great experience. We tried multiple local fresh dishes. Visiting the buchers district was definitely something I won’t easily forget but despite initial worry, the freshly prepared dish there was equally amazing. Emmanuel invited us to his house where his family prepared a meal and coffee from scratch - we left with plenty of great memories and full bellies! Definitely recommend.Emilia
This food tour was the best thing we did in Addis Ababa. We had such a great time with our excellent guide - Meklit - who was smart, insightful and simply a wonderful person to spend some time with. The best part of the tour was a home visit to a local family and just simply talking and spending time together. The food was of course excellent too! We finally felt a bit more like home in Ethiopia thanks to this superb experience. Thank you Meklit and Afro Ethiopia Tours for enriching us with such fantastic memories.Monika
I spend an amazing day with a really nice and smart private guide. She showed me around while giving me a great insight about the culture, customs, food and history of the country. Totally recommendable way to start your visit to the country.Al
I booked a private guide for my vist at the churches in Lalibela and tours to Asheton Maryam Monastry and to Yemrehanna Krestos Church and it was really great! The native guide was perfect in both, educated as a tourist guide and also showing me his culture, country and religion! All the entrance fees, car and Bajaja fares have been included and the guide was always intime and very ambitious to show and explain all the point of interest to me! In my opinion a tour guide is a huge benefit for visitors because the churches are not singnposted at all and you won`t understand most of the meanings, hidden subjects and details without one. At least an appeal: please respect that this places are not a museum but holy places for the people! You also won`t go to Vatikan in shorts and tanktop! Pants, longsleeve and hiking boots are also more functionell because of the sun and the stony pathes!Jan
My tour with Meki exceeded my expectations. She was knowledgeable and accommodating throughout the tour while showing me various parts of Addis Ababa. I would definitely recommend Afro Ethiopia Tours and recommend Meki as your guide. Thanks again!Shelby
I went in Lake Wenchi and Menagesha Suba Forest Park with Meki. She speaks english very well and I enjoy her passion for the culture and the history of this fantastic country. She is also very organized and flexible. I would 100% recommend her to anyone and everyone who wants to go take a trip to EthiopiaIsa
My tour with with Afro Ethiopia Tour was outstanding!! My guide, Meki, in Addis Ababa was wonderful. She was very attentive, accommodating and knowledgeable about the history of the sites we visited in Addis. I spent the whole day with Meki and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I was so impressed with her service that I asked that she put me in contact with someone from her company who was able to plan a tour of Lalibela. That's when I met another guide, Taddesse. Taddesse was also excellent. I spent 2 days with Taddesse visiting all of the rock-hewn churches and other historic sites in Lalibela. Like Meki, Taddesse was very accommodating, knowledgeable and extremely courteous. All in all, my trip with Afro Ethiopia Tour company was fabulous. I could not have made a better choice. I highly recommend Afro Tours!!Guest

My husband and I were in Addis for four days and we contacted several tour companies to look for a one-day Addis city tour. The Afro Ethiopia team were very responsive and easy to work with. Our tour guide, Meki was very nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. We had a great time and would definitely recommend the company and Meki as well!Sobink
This was out first visit to Addis Ababa. The city is very busy and growing at a fast pace. But with the great service from Meklit, from Afro Ethiopian Tours, we were given a great tour of the city and the countryside. It was nice to have all the transportation and meals handled by her. The only thing we had to do was enjoy the coffee, the sites and attempt to capture the perfect photo. I will definitely be contacting her for our next visit.Maya
I did a15-day private tour (just a friend and I) of the Northern historical circuit with Afrotours in December-January 2013/14. Afro Tours did a really great job in customizing the trip to our particular interests, preferences for accommodation and budget. A real differentiator between them and other tours I've been on is that they were flexible in real time - When illness struck, we spent an unexpectedly long time in one place or just wanted to slow down a bit, they were totally willing to change the schedule and accommodations. Both the guide and driver were very knowledgeable, experienced, spoke wonderful English and gave good advice. In addition, having checked with several other tour operators, Afro Tours gave us significantly better pricing. All in all it was a great experience, and I would recommend them to anyone going to Ethiopia!Jason
The guide was wonderful and spoke excellent English. See saw all the main places in the city, the museums, the churches, palace, even a drive up the mountain to see the city panoramic view. Would recommend this tour to all.David
I only had a few hours in Addis at the end of my trip so wanted to make the most of it with a tour. Meklit was an exceptional guide - she was so knowledgeable and friendly and I felt like we captured the essence of Addis in the short time we had. It was like exploring Addis with a friend! HIGHLY recommend this!!!!!Kimberley
Being in Addis for a conference I took the occasion to make a day tour of the city. To make it short: My tour with with Afro Ethiopia was great!! My guide, Meki, was wonderful. She was nice, passionate about her job and knew everything about the history, culture and traditions of the country and the city. The tour was a real immersion into Addis and I enjoyed it a lot. So, if you come to Ethiopia make sure to take a tour with Afro Ethiopia and Meki.Chris
Being in Addis Ababa for work I had a chance to make a day walking tour of the city center. We visited two museums, university, church, had lunch and coffee. It was a pleasant tour, we managed to see a lot by foot and also using public transport.Olena
Tedi was a more than a guide, more like a very knowledgeable host. He took into account our food preferences and added a lot about Addis itself and did not rush us and certainly knew his way around. We also appreciate our contact from the company Meklit Dedebe who was very flexible taking into account two flight delays that must have caused some inconvenience for her. She was also an excellent host in inducting us in local eating customs at the beautiful Dessalech Kitfo & Cultural Music Hall. Thank you so much for a full experience of Addis.Gary
